Thank you for visiting today. Deciding to start therapy takes bravery; not because it is something to be ashamed of, but that it is okay to seek guidance. Depression and anxiety almost always follows each other and are symptoms of an underlying issue.

Therapy is not about being labeled crazy.

Therapy is not about not having the ability to fix your problems.

Therapy does not mean that you will have to go forever.

Therapy is a way to have an objective person guiding you towards developing better interactions and behaviors by helping you to process your feelings and live as productively as possible.

Your therapist's job is not to fix you, as you are not broken. Their job is to be that one person that will listen, help you process your feelings and promote successful future decisions. Not knowing where to turn can make us feel as if we no longer recognize ourselves or our surroundings. You will be provided with a listening, empathetic ear in a safe environment.
Your sessions will vary from simple psychoeducation therapy (talk, learn and process) to examining how your symptoms are affecting you physically. You will learn to become self-aware through guided meditation and other relaxation techniques to calm your mind and body.

Who Am I
I am a fully licensed, board certified mental health counselor/therapist in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware with case management experience working in workforce development helping unemployed citizens of Philadelphia achieve their employment goals. I provided individually tailored interventions, such as workshops on job search, resume writing and interviewing skills. I also advocated for those individuals who were at risk and in need of additional support, including those who were experiencing depression and anxiety.

Both education and professional experiences makes me a uniquely qualified as a therapist that will support individuals who are unemployed/under employed to those individuals at top of the corporate ladder.
My main passion is to help everyone to become the best version of themselves. I work with clients to enable themselves to begin the challenging work of self-discovery, growth potential and change through my clinical skills in my therapeutic approach. I provide individual, couples and group therapy to adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger management, loss/grief, relationships, pregnancy/parenting, and life transitions.

Policies
Cancellation Policy
A cancelled appointment hurts three people: you, your therapist, and another client who could have potentially utilized your time slot. Therapy sessions are scheduled in advance and are a time reserved exclusively for our clients. When a session is cancelled without adequate notice, we are unable to fill this time slot by offering it to another current client, a client on the wait list, or a client with a clinical emergency.

A fee of $80 will be charged when you miss or cancel an appointment without giving 24-48 hours advanced notice. You can cancel your appointment by calling, texting, or emailing me.
The only time we will waive this fee is in the event of serious or contagious illness or extreme weather. If you are unsure, please contact your therapist for further guidance.

Termination of Services
​
Please understand that therapy should be viewed as any other important medical appointment would be viewed. While it is a time commitment, this is for your journey and consistency is key in order to achieve this. That being said, two consecutive missed appointments without first reaching out to the therapist, attempting to reschedule, or otherwise indicating clear commitment to treatment, can result in termination of the therapeutic relationship. If you miss two or more scheduled appointments within a 30 day time period without cancelling or rescheduling in accordance with cancellation policy of 24 hours’ advance notice, the therapeutic relationship will be terminated. Your case may be reopened at any time should you so choose, however you may be placed on a waiting list if there are other clients waiting to use your time slot. This is standard practice with most therapy agencies and private practice offices.

First Time Client
When you make the decision to start therapy, it may feel scary because you will not know how to be a client, having to tell someone information that you may feel uneasy sharing. As a client of SHI Mental Health Counseling, your time will be as easy and as comfortable as possible. You will have a support system as you learn to process your feelings.
Individual Counseling
Struggling with your feelings and thoughts associated with depression and anxiety can feel hurtful. It interferes with your physical health, relationships and personal interactions and professional life. You could be feeling alone, feeling as if you have no support. Let us work together to so that you can feel empowered to move forward. We will work together to help get a better understanding of where you are in the present to help you use your skills learned to cope and heal for a more positive future.
Couples Counseling
When two people decide they want to be together, there is so much love and connection. As time moves forward, routines are established, sometimes an unexpected event happens that can cause you to feel worried about the present state of your relationship. Together, we can work on establishing better communication, learn conflict management and develop better intimacy.
Teletherapy
SHI Mental Health Counseling LLC will provide teletherapy as an option for services. All clients of SHI Mental Health Counseling, LLC will receive the same care and attention of an in office visit, but in the comfort of your home. My practice will only utilize HIPAA compliant platforms to provide long-distance, encrypted technologies.
